On May 1, the South Windsor Board of Education announced the recipients of the tenth annual Eugene Policelli Service Awards at a ceremony held at South Windsor High School. The service awards were created in honor and memory of Dr. Eugene Policelli who served on the board of education from 1985 to 1998.
Each year, as many as three citizens and three South Windsor High School seniors may be selected for this honor. The honorees names are inscribed on commemorative plaques located in the main entrance of South Windsor High School.
The honorees are selected on the basis of their outstanding contributions to the town of South Windsor through voluntary service. Patricia Botteron, Cile Decker and Brigadier General (Retired) AUS James H. Throwe were the recipients of the citizen award. Megan M. Gauer and Janki H. Viroja received the student award.
