On Thursday, August 7, the Town of South Windsor will host an informational “Meet and Greet” event on the recently launched “Energize South Windsor” campaign, which runs now through the end of the year. The event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk, 501 Evergreen Way, South Windsor.

Also on-hand will be Mayor M. Saud Anwar, Town Manager Matthew Galligan, members of the South Windsor Energy Task Force, and representatives from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).

“One of the quickest and easiest ways to save money at home is by saving energy,” said South Windsor Mayor M. Saud Anwar. “Luckily, there are a wide variety of Energize Connecticut programs and other resources available to reduce how much energy you use without having to sacrifice comfort or be inconvenienced.”

Other upcoming Energize South Windsor events include lighting fairs where residents can learn about and purchase energy-saving LED and CFL light bulbs. The fairs will be held on Saturday, July 19, Saturday, August 23 and Saturday, September 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk.

There will also be presentations on residential energy-saving programs on Wednesday, August 13, Wednesday, September 17, and Wednesday, October 15 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the South Windsor Community Center, 150 Nevers Road, South Windsor.

One energy-saving program residents can participate in is Home Energy Solutions℠ (HES), a convenient in-home service where CL&P-authorized energy specialists will come to your home or apartment and perform on-the-spot energy improvements. While these services are valued at an average of $1,000, the cost for the HES service is only $99 (fee waived for income-eligible residents), and the average home in Connecticut saves approximately $250 in annual energy costs after completing HES.
