UPDATED: Construction Starts on New Assisted Living Development on Deming Street

A new 80-unit, three story assisted senior living facility will be constructed near the intersection of Deming Street and Buckland Road.

Construction started this week on a new 80-unit assisted senior living facility near the intersection of Deming Street and Buckland Road that was first approved in 2007 but never began due to the economic slowdown.

Town Planner Michele Lipe told Patch Tuesday that the 80-unit assisted living facility was approved for all permits in 2007, but no work was ever done on the project. The three story development would be built on a 4.6 acre currently vacant field near the intersection of Demning Street and Buckland Road, according to Lipe, with the entrance to the development accessible by Deming Street near the Village at Buckland Court assisted living community.

Lipe said that the original developer that was approved for all the necessary permits, Sunrise Development, sold the rights to another developer, LCB Senior Living, out of Massachusetts, who will construct the new development.

The new development will be called the Residence at South Windsor Farms and is expected to be completed by late 2014 or early 2015.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly referred to LCB Senior Living as LCD Senior Living. Sorry.
