Scenes and smiles from the South Windsor Historical Society event.

The South Windsor Historical Society hosted Heritage Day on the corner of Sullivan Avenue and Main Street on Saturday, with approximately 1,000 to 1,500 people attending the annual event.

Among the things shown were a Civil War encampment, a society of the 17th century exhibit, a Native American cooking with rocks, tours of Main Street and pony rides.

Historical Society President Brian Rivard said that the idea behind Heritage Day is to give people a glimpse into what life was like two or three centuries ago.
