Aucello EyeCare Moving to South Windsor

New business at the Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk will open on Oct. 1.

People seeking perfect vision need to look (pun intended - ugh) no further than Aucello EyeCare Center, which will open Oct. 1 at the Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor.

The opening of the South Windsor location represents the final piece to a restructuring of the Aucello brand.

Indeed, Aucello Eyecare is currently in three LensCrafters locations - Manchester, Newington and Meriden.

In a telephone interview Tuesday, Michael Aucello, who co-owns Aucello EyeCare Center with his wife Patricia, said that the business will break away from LensCrafters - a partnership that lasted 22 years - with the opening of a Newington location on Sept. 1 and the South Windsor location on Oct. 1.

The South Windsor location is a consolidation of the Meriden and Manchester stores, while the Newington location will break away from the Newington LensCrafters, Michael Aucello said.

It’s not a move that’s being taken lightly. The Manchester LensCrafters is one of the largest optometric centers in Connecticut, according to Michael Aucello.

“When we worked with LensCrafters, we ran the optical side and we felt we could do a better job and offer better frames, so that’s why we’re doing it ourselves,” Michael Aucello said.

In South Windsor, the new location will be 2,200 square feet with what Michael Aucello says is “state-of-the-art equipment” and upscale frames and contacts. It will also have three optometrists and four staff members, Michael Aucello said.

“We do a great job and we have a great patient base,” Michael Aucello said. “We felt we could do a better job with eyewear, so we’re adding upscale eyepieces.”

And the Aucellos, for their part, are excited about the move.

“We can’t wait,” Michael Aucello said. “We’re just counting down days. It’s a fabulous location at Evergreen Walk and we’re going to be a perfect fit in that location.”
