It's Official! South Windsor Patch Cuts the Ribbon

Even though the site launched a couple of weeks ago, South Windsor Patch officially opened for business on Friday morning with a ribbon-cutting at the Chamber of Commerce.

State and local politicians and business dignitaries were on hand to mark the occasion and share a few words on having a hyperlocal news site devoted to South Windsor alone.

“I can’t tell you how nice it is to have a local reporter in town,” Mayor Tom Delnicki said prior to presenting a proclamation congratulating Patch on its grand opening.

State Rep. Bill Aman, R-South Windsor, offered an official citation from the Connecticut General Assembly, which read, in part, “We join today to welcome you as a new resource in the South Windsor Community. Please accept our sincere congratulations and wishes for great success as the premier online destination for South Windsor residents to get involved in the community.”

Patch representatives, for their part, were grateful for the reception both Friday and over the last several weeks.

“We are thrilled with the phenomenal response we’ve gotten from the South Windsor community already,” Regional Editor Megan Bard said.

"We are gratified by the amazing welcome we have received from the people of South Windsor since we started getting ready for our launch in early June," Senior Regional Editor Elissa Bass said. "Having Patches in South Windsor, Vernon, Ellington and Manchester creates a great resource for residents of the area to know everything that is going on."

Regional Publisher Mike Pendergast added, "We're very excited to add South Windsor to our region. Local businesses will now have the opportunity to reach the community of South Windsor with many targeted and affordable advertising vehicles.”

Members of the Green Wave — Patch local editors Erin Quinlan (Ellington-Somers), Chris Dehnel (Vernon), Julian McKinley (Windsor), Ronni Newton (West Hartford), Jessie Sawyer (Avon), Joe Wenzel (Rocky Hill) as well as Associate Regional Editors Susan Schoenberger and Ronald DeRosa, Regional Editor Corey Fyke and advertising representatives Kaushik Makati and Seth Ryan — were on hand to lend their support.

To conclude the ceremony, chamber President John Zahner announced the organization's new members, including American Laser Skin Care, Marianne Lassman Fisher, Colony Care at Home Inc., TD Bank, the Baseball Bus and KIDSPACE Adaptive Play & Wellness.
