Jem's Farmstand: The Making Of A Vanilla Shake

I asked and you answered, South Windsor.

Last week I confessed that I'm not much of a candy junky like your local editor, Ted Glanzer, aka the candy ninja. Instead, I'm all about the ice cream.

I posted something simple on the South Windsor Patch Facebook page, asking you about the best place in town to get a cone or two. You suggested Jem's Farmstand on Pleasant Valley Road.

Well, it was 80 degrees today, the sun was bright and I needed a fix.

I hit Jem's just at the right time, at a lull. Lucky for me, not only did owner Ellen Marouski (the "E" and "M" in Jem's) make me a great shake, she allowed me through the door and trusted me to not eat all of the delicious frozen goodness in the coolers while she gave me a tutorial on how to make one of her customers' favorites: a vanilla shake.

Needless to say it it hit the spot.

So, at the end of the visit I was not only able to enjoy my ice cream fix, but also shoot this step-by-step video of how she made the shake.

I'll post more about my visit to Jem's later this week.
