South Windsor Man Wins $25,000 “Lucky for Life” Prize

Daniel Opito of South Windsor became the twenty-fifth ticket holder in Connecticut this year to claim $25,000

The following is a press release from the CT Lottery:

Yet another $25,000 prize was won in the CT Lottery’s “Lucky for Life” draw game! On Dec. 6, 2012, lucky Daniel Opito of South Windsor became the 25th ticket holder in Connecticut this year to claim $25,000 — the second-highest prize in the game. Lucky for Life’s top prize is worth a life-altering $1,000 a day, every day for life.

On Dec. 6, Opito’s “Quick Pick” ticket missed matching the Lucky Ball number, which was 15, but matched the other five winning numbers drawn, 3 - 11 - 24 - 31 - 40. Across New England, 68,304 winning Lucky for Life tickets were purchased on that date; 21,751 were sold in CT alone with prizes ranging from $2 to $25,000.

“I looked in the newspaper and saw that my ‘Lucky’ numbers were a match, then I went to the CT Lottery website (ctlottery.org) and checked again, just to make sure,” Opito told Lottery officials with a laugh.

Since the “first” Lucky for Life drawing on March 15, 2012, there have been 1,936,276 Lucky winning tickets sold in CT alone, including 2 top prize winning tickets — and the number keeps on growing.

According to Opito, winning the $25,000 Lucky for Life prize has come at the perfect time. “It will be a big help to pay off some bills,” said Opito, who claimed his prize check for $17,075 (value after taxes) at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill.
