In advance of the monster storm that is expected to hit the East Coast, the South Windsor school system announced today that public schools will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Town Manager Matthew Galligan said in a telephone interview that all other government buildings will be open Monday.
In addition, Galligan said that Town Hall, which will house the emergency operations center, will remain open to serve as a warming center and for residents to charge their electronic devices.
An emergency shelter may be opened early Monday evening as well, Galligan said, though no decision has been made whether it will be the Charles N. Enes Community Center or the South Windsor High School.
Galligan reminded residents to be prepared by having fresh water, batteries and non-perishable foods on hand.
