South Windsor Town Councilor and Rabbi Head Mission to Haiti

Mission will bring dental equipment, food and clothing to the South Windsor Haiti Preschool.

The following is a press release:

South Windsor Town Councilor Dr. Saud Anwar and president of the South Windsor Haiti School, Inc., and Temple Beth Hillel Rabbi Jeff Glickman travel to Haiti this weekend to bring dental equipment, food, and clothing to the South Windsor Haiti Preschool.  

Dr. Anwar will be accompanied by fellow members of the nonprofit organization including his son, Timothy Edwards Middle School 8th grader Taseen Anwar, Rabbi Glickman’s wife, Mindy Glickman, and Steve Smith of Vernon.

Also traveling with the group will be Dr. Joel Davidson of Tolland, a dentist who has donated his dental services to the people of Haiti for many years and who has been instrumental in helping the organization set-up a dental clinic at the school.

The group will be delivering dental equipment to the school, 80 dresses hand-sewn by members of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in East Hartford, and a generous donation of clothing and food from the Northampton, Massachusetts-based Deals & Steals.

The South Windsor Haiti Preschool, located in the town of Lilavois opened in October 2011 and now has 80 girls, ages 5 to 12. The project is the result of community members who came together after a devastating earthquake struck Haiti in January of 2010.  The South Windsor Haiti Preschool was built in partnership with Ecole Agape, a school that has served Haitian children for 25 years.
