Two Employees to Leave South Windsor School District [Video]

Jacquelyn Mellin, K-12 curriculum specialist, and Rebecca Paauwe, special education teacher, will leave the district by the end of February.

The South Windsor school district will lose two valued employees next month.

Jacquelyn Mellin, the K-12 mathematics curriculum specialist, submitted her resignation, effective Feb. 28.

Mellin, who was hired by South Windsor public schools in July 2010, has taken a position with the Westport public school district.

"Not everyone gets to wake up in the morning and love what they do, and I get to do that," Mellin told members of the Board of Education on Jan. 22.

Rebecca Paauwe, a special education teacher at Timothy Edwards Middle School, also submitted her resignation, effective Feb. 15.

Paauwe was hired by South Windsor Public Schools in August 2008.

The resignations were announced at the school board's regular meeting last week.
