South Windsor's Sydney Mokel to Compete in Jeopardy! Teen Tournament

The tournament begins July 21 and the students will compete for the $75,000 grand prize over the course of the two-week event.

South Windsor High School senior Sydney Mokel, 17, is one of 15 students that will compete for $75,000 in the 29th Edition of the Jeopardy! Teen Tournament.

The tournament is set to begin July 21 and the students will compete for the grand prize over the course of the two-week event, which concludes with a two-day final airing July 31 and Aug. 1.

"The Teen Tournament is the last event of Jeopardy!'s 30th anniversary season, which has been filled with wonderful, exciting moments," Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek said in a press release. "You'll certainly want to tune in to this final event to see what this group of young, sharp contestants has in store for you."

To qualify for the tournament, prospective contestants were selected from those that passed a 50-question online test. A select group was then invited to attend regional in-person auditions consisting of a second 50-question test, an interview and mock game play.
