Claire Virginia (Wilson) Ek, 81, of South Windsor, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Woodlake at Tolland.
Claire was born on June 14, 1932, in Portland, Maine, daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Atherton) Wilson. A resident of South Windsor for over 50 years, Claire retired from Stanadyne in Windsor, where she worked as a financial services administrator.
In her spare time, she enjoyed riding and caring for her horse and raising her guide dog for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Claire was a kind, caring and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She leaves her daughter, Susan Hutchinson and her fiancé, Rich Sadowsky of Sturbridge, Mass.; three grandchildren, Gregory, Spencer and Shannon; and her former son-in-law and friend, Gary Hutchinson of Ellington.
Her family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Woodlake at Tolland and Companions and Homemakers, especially Inez and Diane for all of their kind and compassionate care.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, June 6, 2014, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor.
