Community Update

Three Republicans Mr. Bazzano, Mrs. Beaulieu, Mr. McCann voted against the protential increase in revenue of millions of dollars.  The Connecticut Studio, LLC has the potential to bring jobs, home purchase, economic prosperity to local small businesses and a large increase in tax revenue to the town.  Yet Mr. Bazzano, Mrs. Beaulieu and Mr. McCann support the recreation center and synthetic field proposals that would cost the town millions.

Their reasoning was losing control of the project?  Yet Mr. Bazzano, Mrs. Beaulieu and Mr. McCann did not display this same fear for the land and project they were prepared to hand over to a newly formed 63/20 Corporation to build the recreation dynasty where the taxpayers would not have any control.

Mr. Bazzano asked why if the parties attached to this Connecticut Studios were so confident, why was the council being put over a barrel?  Yet I would ask if Mr. Bazzano is so confident that a new recreation center and synthetic fields are needed he would put the proposal to referendum.  Instead in July Mr. Bazzano said if the coucil choose to put the proposal for his pet project of synthetic fields to referendum he would not support that action.  Why not?

On September 10, 2013 my fellow republicans are being asked to nominate a slate of Town Council.  Your vote is important to remove the special interest group that has infiltrated our Republican Party here in South Windsor.  This special interest group has needs and wants confused.  Are the athletic fields really a need or a want?  The public school enrollment over the last ten years has declined.  It appears this trend is not going to end soon.

Decrease in student body size since 2003/2004 to date is 1018 students.  According to last week council meeting there is a forecast of further decrease of 9%,

If there is a need by all means we should fill that need in the conventional bonding with referendum.  We need to elect officals who truly believe in the taxpayer's right to vote and follow our charter.
