So Very Disappointed with SW Parks and Rec...

This is our 5th year in SW after moving from Glastonbury, and each year, I am more disappointed with the Parks and Rec dept.  I went to sign up for my annual family VMP pool pass, and discovered (low and behold!) that prices had increased for residents, and only a $10 increase for non-residents?!?!  We are paying the taxes; our rates should have stayed the same as residents with a significant increase for non-residents, AND anyone who buys a pass must attend VMP with a town resident (same for daily rate).  The riff-raff that get into our town pool on our taxes is ridiculous!  Second, you now have to go to the parks and rec office to get a photo taken for the pass....really??  Since when are working families available between 8AM and 4:30PM??  Try using a fingerprint like Six Flags and Disney World and have the pads AT THE POOL!!  I think it's time to hit the SW Swim and Tennis Clubs, which may be pricey, but at least it offers so much more without all the hassle.

And that's not all....there is no after school care for early-release Wed at the schools!!  Why??  It was poorly advertised last year and they did not offer it due to low demand.....try putting some effort into it!!  Another blow to working families in this town.....use your own vacation and personal time to get home early every Wed for 6 months out of the year.....not very nice to SW tax payers.

Lastly, my husband's experience as a coach for the town basketball program was so less than par!!  Communication was poor, to say the least, minimal response and rudeness from supervisor, and very disorganized program!  It really makes you want to coach a town parks and rec program....NOT!

This town has so much to offer, and the parks and rec program needs to do a better job.  It does offer some nice programs, such as the Evergreen Walk Concert Series, but I honestly can't say much more.  Come on parks and rec....give your taxpayers and working families a break.
