What's on Tonight: Summer Olympics, So You Think You Can Dance, Dallas

TV tips for Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012.

Summer Olympics, 8 p.m., NBC

Tonight, Swimming, finals: men's 200m breaststroke, men's 100m freestyle, women's 200m butterfly, women's 4x200m freestyle relay; gymnastics: men's all-around; beach volleyball, women's: USA vs. Austria; diving: men's synchronized springboard. My two new favorite things: 1. saying “beach” volleyball (using my patented air quotes move) every time I refer to it, since they are not on a beach. They are in front of a castle or something. 2. The itsy, bitsy, teeny-weeny bathing suits favored by the male synchronized divers. And yes, I know I am too old to say that.

I keep watching this, but I don’t really like it. So why do I keep watching this? Tonight, “John Ross must choose between oil and his family; Sue Ellen and Rebecca are both victims of men who could destroy their lives; a medical crisis strikes the Ewing family.”
