Drug Take Back & Disposal Day in South Windsor

The South Windsor Police Department will host a drug disposal day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at South Windsor Police headquarters, 151 Sand Hill Rd.

Volunteers from the South Windsor Triad (Police, Human Services & Senior Services) will be on hand to receive unwanted medications from citizens.

This is a drive-up event. Volunteers will collect the unwanted medication and place it in a disposal container. The event is part of a nationally coordinated Drug Enforcement Administration event to allow citizens to safely dispose of unwanted medications.

All medications will be accepted: prescription, non-prescription and over the counter. Needles are not accepted.

These events take place with the goal of reducing the risk of prescription drug diversion, abuse and accidental ingestion. The proper disposal of unwanted and outdated medication lessens the chance of negative environmental impact such as groundwater contamination and watercourse pollution.
