A 43-year-old Vernon woman has been charged with drunken driving after she was found in the middle of Hany Lane on Halloween night during the peak time for trick-or-treating, according to an arrest report.
Amber Hasser, who lives at 23 Ward St., Apt. 1, was taken into custody at 6:51 p.m., police said.
A 911 call came into the Vernon dispatch center from a young child, who said there was "something wrong" with Hasser, the child's mother, police said. An officer went to the scene and found a vehicle stopped in the middle of Hany Lane near the Donnell intersection, which at the time was crowded with children and parents out for Halloween, police said.
Police determined Hasser was intoxicated and she was arrested, according to an arrest report.
Hasser has been charged with:
• Failure to take a sobriety test.
• Driving under the influence.
• Improper parking.
• Two counts of risk of injury to a minor.
She was held overnight on a $5,000 bond while awaiting a scheduled Thursday court appearance, police said.
