An Apple Orchard Lane man was taken to an area hospital after police received a call from the man’s wife that he had made suicidal statements.
Sgt. Scott Custer of the South Windsor Police Department said that police received a call around 10:30 a.m. that the man was in the basement of his home and had several guns.
Custer said that the man had vacated his home before they had gotten there. The man was located at a neighbor’s home about two hours later, Custer said. No weapons were involved in the incident.
“It wasn’t a standoff, it was despondent man who had some marital difficulties and we couldn’t get a hold of him,” Custer said. “He had left [and] he was fine going to the hospital for examination for suicidal threats. [Weapons] weren’t used, nor implied.”
