A 38-year-old South Windsor man suspected of shoplifting is also facing charges that he violated his probation after police arrested him in Hartford Tuesday.
Anthony Tarantino, of 206 Skyline Drive, is facing larceny in the fifth degree and two violation of probation charges after he allegedly stole two vacuum cleaners from the Target on Buckland Hills Drive.
South Windsor Police responded to the store after receiving a complaint that a suspicious person was in the area, according to police spokesman Sgt. Scott Custer.
Target's security staff attempted to stop Tarantino, who fled the area in a tan pickup truck, Custer said.
State police officers later stopped the vehicle in Hartford and the two vacuum cleaners that were allegedly stolen were found inside, Custer said.
It was later discovered that Tarantino was being sought by probation officers on two outstanding arrest warrants, according to Custer.
South Windsor officers responded to Hartford and arrested Tarantino, who was held on a $110,000 surety bond and was scheduled to be presented at Manchester Superior Court today.
