South Windsor Lifeguards Save Woman's Life at Veterans Memorial Park Pool

Three South Windsor lifeguards are being commended for their heroics in saving the life of an unconscious woman who was observed floating on her back in 4-5 feet of water in the main pool at Veterans Memorial Park on Sunday afternoon.

Lifeguards Kelly Wentworth, Alexandra Jones and Brandyn Lucca entered the water and safely removed the woman from the pool, according to the South Windsor police. After checking the woman's vital signs, the lifeguards called 911.

When they couldn't find a pulse or signs of breathing, Wentworth immediately began CPR chest compressions and Jones, with her breathing mask on performed two successful rescue breaths, police say. After another round of compressions the woman regained confused consciousness. The lifeguard staff monitored her condition until police and the Ambulance Service of Manchester arrived and assumed patient care, according to police.

The woman was transferred to Hartford Hospital and was in stable condition when left by EMS at the hospital. As of this morning she was reported to be in very good spirits and is expected to make a full recovery.
