South Windsor Police Log: $500 Cologne Theft, DUI, Assault, Violation of Protective Order

Yusef Omary, 25, of 1601 Poquonuck Ave, Windsor, was arrested Friday and charged with interfering with an officer and sixth-degree larceny. According to police, Omary was found in possession of $500 worth of stolen cologne after officers responded to a shoplifting complaint at a Buckland Road store. Omary was later released on a $2,500 surety bond and scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on Nov. 7.

Thomas Riggio, 36, of 707 Summer Hill Drive, South Windsor, was arrested Saturday and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and failure to drive right after he was reportedly in a motor vehicle accident on Dart Hill Road. According to police, Riggio went off the road, struck street signs, a tree and a mailbox while drunk. Riggio reportedly failed a series of roadside sobriety tests. Riggio was later released on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on Nov. 4. 

Justin Tomel, 24, of 1486 Main St. South Windsor, was arrested Saturday after a domestic dispute at a Main Street home. According to police, officers responded to a call and found two brothers had been fighting. Upon learning he would be arrested, one of the men attempted to flee but was arrested after a short foot chase. He was charged with third-degree assault, breach of peace and interfering with an officer. Tomel was later released on a $10,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on Monday, Oct. 28.

On Sunday, Oct. 27, South Windsor Police officers responded to a call at an Oakland Road home. A local man complained that a female acquaintance was at his home throwing things and damaging his property following an argument.  Officers learned that a protective order prohibited any contact between the woman and the man. Officers arrested the woman, Lisa Giano, 24, of 791 Main St., Manchester. She was charged with criminal violation of a protective order and held on $50,000 surety bond. Giano was scheduled to be presented at Manchester Superior Court on Monday, Oct. 28.
