South Windsor Police Welcome New Officer

Jonathan Caldwell was sworn in Monday.

South Windsor Police Chief Matthew Reed swore in the department's newest officer Monday. Officer Jonathan Caldwell will be training at the police department until leaving for training at the police academy starts on Friday, January 3rd.

Caldwell lives in town with his family and is a 2008 graduate of South Windsor High School. He holds an Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Manchester Community College. He has also attended Westfield State College.

The hiring of Officer Caldwell brings the department to full authorized staffing level. There are three officers currently in the academy; one officer graduates later this week, and the two others will graduate in March. Upon graduation from the academy all officers complete a 16-week field training program with experienced officer/trainers.
