‘Suspicious Circumstances' at South Windsor Bank Result in Arrest

Staff at a South Windsor bank contacted police, saying a man was trying to cash a check that appeared to be fraudulent. Then police reportedly found something in his pocket that further added to the charges.

When South Windsor Police were dispatched to a Buckland Road bank on Wednesday, March 26,  for a “suspicious circumstances case,” staff told them a man was trying to cash a check that appeared to be fraudulent.

Police interviewed Derrick Kinchen, 48, of Burr Road in Bloomfield. Kinchen reportedly told police he was given checks by an unknown person to cash. South Windsor police said the man allegedly had a crack pipe in his pocket.

“Bank staff contacted the business the fraudulent check was drawn on to attempt to verify its authenticity,” according to a press release from the South Windsor Police Department. “They learned that the check was fake.”
