Referendum Passes to Build Orchard Hill Elementary School

The citizens of South Windsor have voted to pass a referendum to build a new Orchard Hill Elementary School.


By a large margin, the citizens of South Windsor have voted to spend $33,521,724 for the planning, design, acquisition, construction, equipping and furnishing of a new Orchard Hill Elementary School. Of that cost, an estimated $11,263,567 is expected to be reimbursed by the state of Connecticut.

Of the 15,000+ registered voters in South Windosr, 24 percent came out for the vote, which found 2,855 people voting in favor of the construction of the school and 937 voting against it.
