Town Council to Meet Tonight While Ted Watches the Baby

Budget surplus, elementary school plan on South Windsor Town Council agenda.

Good morning South Windsor.

Tonight's my first meeting in town. I'm excited to get to know South Windsor's elected officials and participants in the town's political process.

In Farmington, where I've lived all my life and was the Patch editor for the past three years, I learned how great town officials manage the delicate balance of taxes and services, businesses that expand the tax base and open space that preserves quality of life and the personalities that make it all happen.

I confess - I love meetings. I know that's not what most people consider a good time, but as a reporter, it's the best place to get a sense of a town's personality and how it's run. (Anyone ever go to these meetings?)

On another note, this will be the first time I leave the baby with my husband. Ted gave him a bottle for the first time last night with no issue. Wish him well.

And your daily five:

1. The Town Council will hold a work session at 7 p.m. tonight with a regular meeting to follow at 8 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The council is slated to discuss the town’s budget surplus and the Superintendent of Schools’ recommended plan for the town’s elementary schools. See the agendas here.

2. You can donate to the South Windsor Food Alliance Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. while you shop at the Farmers Market. More information is here.
