Information Overload

Answers to recent questions.

Over the past couple months since I've posted/bogged here on
Patch, I have been asked some great questions regarding not only my
blogs/posts, but also questions regarding others posts in the Real Estate
section. Here are the top two questions asked. I thought it would be beneficial
to all and to show answers as many may have the same questions.

Q: Some bloggers it seems post almost every day and over-load us
with information, why don't you?

A: I believe in quality, not quantity. Also, if you notice many of
my posts are about statistics (local average home price trends, average days on
the market trends, # of homes sold in a town, market share by agency, etc.) not
about opinions. In saying that, I will not shy away from an opinion here and
there if it is regarding our local market area and it is based upon factual
information and trends our agents are gathering from the field. Information is
knowledge and if we can give people timely, relevant and consistent localized
trends and statistics on their specific market to make better and more informed
decisions – well it just helps the greater good.

Q: Why don't you share mortgage info, real estate attorney's, home inspectors, contractors, etc.?

A: In general we do and will – but mostly with our clients. Remember, real estate agents have a real estate license – most Realtors are not licensed mortgage lenders, attorneys, contractors, etc. and vice versa. We all have a role to play in a real estate transaction. I will say however that through almost 18 years of experience, arguably the real estate agent is the “quarterback” of the “team” and is the one looked to by a client for recommendations in all the other areas. In saying that, we try and stick to what we know best – marketing real estate and bringing buyers and sellers together.
