CREC Magnet School Construction in South Windsor Making Headway

Work on the new 65,000-square-foot facility is on schedule.

Construction of the International Magnet School for Global Citizenship in South Windsor is currently on schedule for its January 2014 completion.

The new facility, located at 625 Chapel Rd., is nearly three quarters of the way finished, Reminder News reports.

Though the $31.5 million project - largely funded through a state grant - is not affiliated with the South Windsor school district, South Windsor Mayor Tom Delnicki told the Hartford Courant he was "excited" for the school's completion.

"The school helps CREC and their mission, but it's also helping South Windsor give more opportunities to its community," he told the paper. "It's a win-win."

Thirty-seven South Windsor residents are currently enrolled at the school, according to Reminder News.
