South Windsor 9-10 Softball Team Advances to State Semifinals
All-Star team recently won District 8, Regional championships.
The South Windsor 9-10 All-Star softball team recently won the District 8 and Regional championships and will next play in the state semifinals this week.
South Windsor (8-0) will take on a team from Madison/Clinton in the semifinal showdown in East Hampton on Wednesday.
"This has been truly a team effort, each and every player on this team has contributed to the success we have had in this tournament," team manager Pat Doherty said, while adding that none of the players has ever played on an All-Star star team until this year.
Team members are: Alexandra Allan (C), Anastasia Assenso (OF/1B), Carlyn Burba (1B/OF), Linsday Carter (OF), Rebecca Chernik (SS), Bridget Doherty (P/OF), Olivia Drezek (OF), Josie Foley (OF/P), Giulianna Gionfriddo (2B), Kenadie Gonzalez (1B/3B), Emma Sansom (2B/3B), and Olivia Strout (OF/3B).
Pat Doherty is the team manager and Steve Chernik, Rob Allan and Chris Drezek are coaches.

State Semi-Finals (Section 2)
South Windsor vs Madison/Clinton on Wednesday 7/23/14, 5:30 p.m. at Seamster Park in East Hampton. Park address is 20 Smith Street, East Hampton CT. Winner is Section 2 Champion and will play a best out of three series over the weekend against the Section 1 Champion to determine the CT State LL Champion, the loser is eliminated.
