Thanksgiving Football 2013: 5 Reasons to Root for South Windsor

The Rivalry continues.

By Ted Glanzer

The South Windsor-Rockville Thanksgiving football rivalry is set to resume.

Kickoff on Thursday is scheduled for 10 a.m.

Here are five reasons to root for South Windsor, Courtesy of the local Patch editor:

1. Tradition. As in, the South Windsor High football team always seems to win this thing. The Bobcats have won the rivalry game five consecutive times, including last year’s 42-14 victory in Vernon.

2. The mascot. You know what a Bobcat is? A predator. You know what a Ram is? A glorified sheep that likes to hit its head against other glorified sheeps’ heads. Bobcats eat Rams. OK, maybe they don’t live in the same environment, but they would if they could. The science is sound.

3. The game is being played this year in the best town in Connecticut - South Windsor - on Thanksgiving Day morning. What’s better than that?
