Check out the South Windsor Haiti School at the Public Library!

Dr. Joel Davidson recent visit to Haiti captured in pictures.

During the month of July, South Windsor residents will have the opportunity to see photographs of the preschool in Lilavois, Haiti named in honor of their town.

The photographs, which include the children who attend the South Windsor Haiti Preschool, will be on display at the South Windsor Library. The photos were taken by Dr. Joel D. Davidson, a Tolland dentist who played a key role in securing a $10,000 donation from the Connecticut State Dental Foundation to set-up a dental clinic at the school.

The pictures include South Windsor town council member Dr. Saud Anwar, and Rabbi Jeff Glickman of Temple Beth Hillel at the opening of the preschool in October 2011.  Anwar serves as president of South Windsor Haiti School, Inc. (the nonprofit group that established the preschool) and Glickman is the Vice President for Community Outreach.

After several years of planning, South Windsor Haiti School, Inc. established the preschool program at Ecole Agape, a 25-year old private, tuition-free school that serves more than 200 children in grades 1 - 6.  Since the preschool opened, it has enrolled nearly 80 children ages 5 to 11 who have never attended school.
