Meet Kevin McCann, Republican Candidate for Town Council

My name is Kevin McCann and I am a candidate for South Windsor Town Council. I have served on Council since 2005. I have also served on the Planning & Zoning, and the Parks & Recreation Commissions for a total of 11 years. I have authored Council’s austerity resolutions since December of 2008. I presided over the P&Z hearings that brought us Evergreen Walk. I co-authored Master Plans for Parks & Recreation as well as overall Conservation and Development. 

We now need to focus on our infrastructure, especially our elementary schools, and on the fiscal stability of the Town. We need honesty in budgeting, not raiding our Fund Balance and depleting our capital improvements funds. We need to create and follow a long range Strategic Plan to address specific needs such as the schools, the Community Center, a Recreation Center, Open Space and our parks.

Although I think both political parties have a lot of work to do to regain public trust, I am glad to have been part of our unanimous Town Budget this year, as well as a bipartisan compromise on athletic fields. We need to continue to work together for a better South Windsor.
