Julian, Go See Star Wars Already, South Windsor High Sports Sked, Parks and Rec Meeting

Here are five things going on in the area today.

Good morning, South Windsor! Today is Wednesday, April 10, 2013. There are 265 days left in the year.

Friends, if you were to poll Patch employees in Connecticut on who their favorite co-worker is, chances are they’ll say Windsor Local Editor Julian McKinley.

In addition to being a talented journalist and writer (no foolin’, if you aren’t getting your Windsor news from him, you’re doing it wrong), Julian is, without question, one of the nicest people you’ll meet.

Just a great guy.

So it pains me to announce this. I’m not into public shaming, but this needs to be known.

Julian admitted to me that he’s never seen "Star Wars."

You read that right. You can’t be a human in America without having seen the pop culture phenomenon.

Julian assured me that he loves movies. Which makes this all the more puzzling.

The original trilogy was re-released in theaters in the mid 1990s, not to mention that the original three movies have been available in something like 500 different box sets.

Oh, and don’t forget the 1.3 million times they are shown on cable.

All Julian can offer as an excuse is, “I dunno, I’ve just never seen them.” That, my friends, is a dodge.

So I tried to come up with a list of movies that I haven’t seen, but should. (The list of movies I shouldn’t have seen, but did, is wayyyy too long.) It took me 35 years to finally watch “The Godfather “from end to end. But I got there.

Anyhoo, the only movie that I could come up with (barring recent installments that I know I will get to, like “The Hobbit”) is “The Big Lebowski.

In my defense, I tried watching it one day and found it fantastically boring.

What about you? Any movies you haven’t seen but really ought to have?

Here’s your Daily 5:
