What is the Revised Field Project?

Check out the new plan and tell us if you support it.

The revised athletics field plan was unanimously recommended by the fields subcommittee and a majority of Town Council members have said they would like to see the project go forward.

This plan includes an artificial turf field, which the town plans to lease at a cost of about $375,000, a Miracle league field, which would be paid for by donations, two grass practice fields and an 89-space gravel parking lot. The proposal is estimated to cost $900,000, down from $2.4 million.

Town Council members Keith Yagaloff and Gary Bazzano, also members of the subcommittee, say that the project will cost about $46,000 out of the town's annual operating budget. They have asked the town manager to reduce his budget by that amount instead of increasing the total, in order to avoid a tax increase.

Though there will not be an official public hearing, residents are welcome to review the new plan (included here) and address the council regarding it at a special meeting on Oct. 15.
