State ME Releases Hannah Patrie's Cause of Death

The Patrie family has filed an intent to sue various South Windsor town and private agencies, along with a Manchester ambulance corps, alleging their negligence lead to Hannah's death.

It has been nearly one year since 15-year-old dynamo Hannah Patrie died while participating in an exercise at a dance camp at South Windsor High School.

Patrie, who was remembered by family and friends as vivacious and cheerful girl, reported having difficulty breathing and eventually collapsed in the high school auditorium. She died less than five hours later.

According to the Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner, Patrie's cause of death was determined by cardiac dysrhythmia of undetermined etiology. This means that the young woman died from an irregular heartbeat, but that cause of such could not be determined, according to hopkinsmedicine.org and medicinenet.com.

On Dec. 21, the Patrie family notified the towns of South Windsor and Manchester that it is considering filing a lawsuit against various agencies within the towns, including the ambulance service, South Windsor Police Department, the dance camp instructor and public school system, alleging that negligence on their behalf lead to Patrie's death.
